When global security-software supplier McAfee relocated from four separate UK premises to a single 42,000 sq ft building, it had clear operational goals. McAfee wanted to bring staff together to encourage collaboration while combining infrastructure and support services to create a vital R&D centre. In addition, the office design brief was to create an impressive visitor experience.
The key success factor for this office fit-our project was to understand and interpret the client’s aims into a design solution. These meant completely reconfiguring the ground floor and install a new reception, a meeting suite with large video-walls and a data centre viewable to visitors. Our team then mirrored the design ethos and brand identity it had recently established during the fit-out of their EMEA Headquarters in the Netherlands.
Getting the infrastructure installed correctly provided the platform for this project to succeed. This included adding a new external generator and electrical substation to support more than 90 communication cabinets within the data centre. This had stringent air-conditioning requirements to ensure it provided a robust back-up solution.
