Bregal Investments, a leading investment firm, was looking to move from its Michelin House offices in Chelsea. Over time, their old office had become outdated, failing to reflect the dynamic nature of their business. With aspirations to create a space that would impress clients and inspire employees, Bregal Investments decided to relocate to a new, prestigious location at 20 Air Street, a landmark building known for its impressive architecture.
The primary objective for the new office was to transform the reception area into a striking entrance that would leave a lasting impression for clients and visitors.
Positioned strategically across the bridge over the building's central atrium, the reception is the first thing visitors see upon exiting the lift, creating a memorable first impression. Unlike the previous office, the new space feels bright, airy, and welcoming, with abundant natural light streaming in through large windows.
The design emphasises a fresh, clean architectural style, using timber and joinery panels to add sophistication without overwhelming the space. The choice of materials creates a warm yet modern aesthetic that is both inviting and impressive. Hints of colour in the furniture add vibrancy while maintaining a professional look, striking a balance between corporate elegance and a welcoming atmosphere.
One of the standout features of the new office is the breakout area. The previous office lacked a space where people could easily get together away from their desk to have a break and relax. The new breakout space is significantly larger and feels entirely separate from the office environment, offering a refreshing and distinctive atmosphere. By being separate, it creates a clear division from the work areas, allowing employees to truly relax and unwind.
Complete with a professional bar station, a fully equipped tea point, and an on-site barista who crafts premium coffee and specialty drinks, this space not only serves as a place for relaxation and informal meetings but also doubles as a venue for events and evening drinks, fostering a vibrant social dynamic. The bar-like atmosphere away from the main office area provides a unique blend of comfort and sophistication, setting Begal Investments apart from typical corporate settings. This enhances the overall experience for current employees and serves as a significant draw for new talent, making it an attractive place to work.
By providing a space that promotes relaxation and socialisation, Bregal Investments underscore their commitment to employee wellbeing and a positive workplace culture, which is increasingly important in today's competitive job market.
Sustainability was a critical consideration for Bregal Investments. Committed to reducing its carbon footprint and achieving net-zero emissions, Bregal Investments, like Area, is SBTi certified. This shared commitment to sustainability made Area the perfect partner for the project.
We ensured that all suppliers used for the project were as sustainable as possible, sourcing materials with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Sustainable flooring and tiling companies were selected, and existing lights and furniture pieces from the old office were reused to minimise waste. The timber used in the project was sustainably sourced, reflecting our shared commitment to the environment.
The building itself embodies circular economy principles, targeting an EPC B rating and a BREEAM rating of excellence, further aligning with Bregal Investments' sustainability goals.
