Project Brief

Set within the renowned cylindrical silhouette of 30 St Mary Axe, the new office reflects Blue Yonder's commitment to pushing the boundaries of supply chain solutions and creating an environment where technology and design converge seamlessly.

With a focus on expanding their footprint, Blue Yonder required a sophisticated space that would not only house their operations but also function as a dynamic Experience Centre. This centre is designed to engage clients and showcase the company’s cutting-edge technologies, while also accommodating essential sales and administrative functions.

Design Objectives

The primary goal was to create a space that immerses clients in Blue Yonder’s digital innovations, enabling them to experience and understand the transformative power of their solutions. This immersive environment serves as a compelling showcase for Blue Yonder's technological advancements.

In addition to the Experience Centre, the office needed to provide an efficient and functional environment for back-of-house activities. This included accommodating essential sales and administrative tasks, ensuring that the operational side of the business was well-supported.

Design and Implementation

Area was tasked with bringing Blue Yonder’s vision to life, a process that involved extensive collaboration and creative problem-solving. Central to the design is a brand-new Experience Centre. This area, designed to accommodate 50-100 guests, features a dominant media wall, video panels, touch-sensitive tables, and a refreshment counter. With its neutral tones and modern furnishings, the space creates a vibrant, lab-like atmosphere that perfectly aligns with Blue Yonder’s technological ethos.

The office also boasts an open plan layout that promotes flexibility and collaboration. This design includes adaptable workstations, diverse breakout areas, and a variety of work settings to support both team collaboration and individual focus. In line with The Gherkin’s commitment to sustainability, the office incorporates eco-friendly elements such as energy-efficient lighting, sustainable materials, and smart climate control systems, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint.

Equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, the office features advanced video conferencing facilities and interactive displays, facilitating modern working practices and client interactions. The interior design combines contemporary aesthetics with comfort, using glass, natural materials, and a neutral colour palette to create a sophisticated environment. Bold colours from Blue Yonder’s branded palette inject energy into the space.

Prioritising employee wellbeing, the design includes ergonomic furniture, wellness areas, and spaces for relaxation and informal meetings, contributing to a supportive and healthy work environment.
