Area Supports Mini Medics First Aid Training at Chilton Primary School

As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering positive social value, Area has supported the Mini Medics initiative at Chilton Primary School in Oxfordshire, helping 177 children learn essential life-saving first aid skills.

The initiative was delivered in association with our work for ARC | Advanced Research Clusters at CO:LABS, located within Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.

Supporting Our Local Communities

Through Area's Project Positive, we aim to create a lasting positive impact in the communities surrounding our projects.

Working with New Forest First Aid Training, we funded specialist Mini Medics sessions at Chilton Primary School, giving pupils the opportunity to develop practical first aid skills and build confidence in responding to emergency situations.

Area team members Harry and Monty also attended the sessions, seeing first-hand how the children engaged with the training.

Equipping Young People with Life-Saving Skills

The Mini Medics programme introduces primary school children to essential first aid techniques through practical, age-appropriate training.

A total of 177 pupils took part, with feedback collected following the sessions demonstrating significant improvements in their knowledge:

  • 78.5% increase in knowledge of the recovery position.
  • 90.4% increase in knowledge of DR ABC.
  • 82.5% increase in knowledge of CPR.

These results demonstrate the immediate impact of introducing first aid education at an early age, helping children develop skills that could one day save a life.

James Osborne at New Forest First Aid Training commented:

"The support from Area for an initiative like this demonstrates their commitment to health and safety not only within their own organisation, but also to the wider communities in which they operate. By helping young people gain these life-saving skills, they are contributing to something that has the potential to make a lasting difference far beyond the classroom."

Creating a Lasting Impact Through Project Positive

As a Certified B Corporation, Area is committed to making a positive difference beyond the spaces we design and build.

Initiatives such as Mini Medics form part of our wider Project Positive programme, which brings together our teams, clients and community partners to deliver meaningful environmental and social value.

We're pleased to have supported Chilton Primary School and would like to thank New Forest First Aid Training for delivering the sessions, and the school for welcoming us.
